Cisco interns aren’t your average interns – and that rings true in 2020 especially. Every year, Cisco hosts interns from round the global world. It works two-fold for the reason that we all study from each other, as the interns bring in a brand new new perspective. Interns not merely focus on projects and solve real business issues, however they meet leaders also, build relationships with colleagues, and, yes, play virtual Pictionary. Because the world shifted in 2020 even, Cisco’s university teams found give a unique &ndash together; and virtual &ndash entirely; experience.

For the client Experience (CX) organization (where we work) we run a cross-functional internship program that strives to greatly help interns build their professional network, figure out how to operate in a corporate world, and, ultimately, lay the building blocks for an effective career. And that goal remained for 2020.

We both loved individuals and culture so much during our internships that people came back full-time and also have started our professional journeys at Cisco! Our CX Internship Program is among the main ways we generate early-in-career talent to the business. As previous interns, it’s also section of our role to greatly help our current interns become the perfect versions of themselves.

Meet some of our interns around this summer!

Name: Juliette Ulaga

Role: Business Analyst Intern, CX Solutions Marketing & Acceleration

School: University of California, Berkeley

Why did you decide to intern at Cisco? I’m originally from France and also have lived most of my entire life in Europe. When I found the United States, I needed to work for a global company that drives innovation in the technology industry – not in america just, but throughout the world. Cisco’s global impact is indeed large and you can find so many opportunities in this organization to find your house and your people.

What has your internship experience been like up to now? Cisco has provided me having the ability to push myself and find out new professional areas. As a total result, I have been in a position to network with professionals from different organizations for more information in what they do and find out new regions of interest. Although I had not been recruited as a technical intern, I have already been able to concentrate on technical projects & discover new passions. Cisco offers this type of diverse breadth of professional opportunities that everyone can pursue their passion or find news ones.

Name: Azhia Harris

Role: Software Engineering Intern, CX Engineering & Product Incubation

School: Stanford University

What advice can you give to those seeking to intern at Cisco in the foreseeable future? Prospective interns should explore areas they could be passionate about, both in and beyond class. Doing this can help them learn what interests and excites them, that will guide them if they make an application for an internship. So when the interview comes, showing passion and a need to learn positively will reflect. It can help interviewers see your intellectual curiosity and will result in placement in a team where you can explore and additional your interests.

What Cisco “perks”, outside the normal benefits and such, can you enjoy? Cisco’s commitment would be to giving back again to local communities and creating a meaningful difference in the global world. Cisco partners with non-profit organizations and provides employees 5 days of paid time off to volunteer and matches hours volunteered and donations. Week I participated within an intern volunteer event last, which Cisco matched also. In this right time of social justice, you should me to work with a company that’s focused on actively positively impacting its community and the planet, and at Cisco Personally i think that is true.

Role: Business Analyst Intern, Cisco Managed Services

School: University of NEW YORK, Chapel Hill

Why arrived at, or stay at, Cisco? I really believe you arrived at Cisco for the training and advancement opportunities and you also stay for individuals and culture. Everyone that I’ve met is professional, hardworking, and committed to helping me genuinely. I really like how Cisco’s people see individual differences as assets that may be leveraged to achieve greater results. I love the ongoing company of my co-workers, and Personally i think that I have already been in a position to make real, meaningful connections using them.

What has been your preferred facet of your Cisco internship? The best facet of this internship has been addressing work with folks from around the world. It amazes me that folks working in america, Krakow, and Bangalore are working toward one shared outcome. No real matter what area of the global world we have been from, we have been one team.

Our internship program embodies Cisco’s purpose to power an inclusive future for several, and we’re excited to keep to cultivate our early-in-career talent at work.

What’s more exciting is that even, eventually, we’ll also transition the internship program to our interns out of this summer, all while developing them into future leaders at Cisco – coming full circle from where we started.
