How Cisco Virtually Fosters a Lifestyle of Travel

Travel is definitely a big way to obtain fulfillment in my own life. Not simply summer vacations or lengthy weekends aside from the workplace but I have spent the majority of my adult lifestyle traveling internationally. Now, because the world has shifted, and travel has paused in lots of ways – I see the wonder in how I’m in a position to continue ‘traveling’ practically at Cisco due to our global community.

Throughout my career, We have been fortunate to have careers that provided me having the ability to take a trip. Whether it had been working as an occasion planner for cruise lines or as an application coordinator for resorts as well as as a nanny in Switzerland if there is travel involved, I was constantly onboard.

Choosing to work with Cisco was an easy decision in cases like this, because We knew that doing work for a global business meant that there will be opportunities to utilize different teams and folks from around the globe both personally and virtually. Now, after 5 yrs in technology, I am proud to possess friends on just about any continent in the planet.

We have always valued multiculturalism and love that Cisco cultivates an inclusive culture. Being a part of a forward thinking and diverse group that uses technologies to help the higher good and create a brighter upcoming for all leaves me feeling inspired.

Increasing up in a little town, educating myself in various means of life and residing, understanding different languages, and immersing myself into different cultures was a big concern for me. I actually believe it has produced me a a lot more compassionate individual with a better, more open-minded knowledge of the planet we reside in. I know that journey has definitely opened doorways to new opportunities, concepts, and creativity that I likely would not really have been subjected to without it.

Therefore, once the opportunity came about within March 2018 to use another engineering team for 18 months within Prague, I jumped on the opportunity!

We began doing work for Cisco in 2015 with the AMP engineering team (the Cisco acquisition) inside Calgary, Alberta. The group had a ‘start-up’ vibe that fostered open up communication, solid teamwork, and an inclusive culture. I was unfortunately goodbye to them, despite the fact that I knew this is an opportunity I possibly could not move up and ready myself for a completely different office lifestyle in Prague.

To my shock, the longer We spent with the Cognitive team in Prague, the a lot more I realized that despite the fact that Czech and Canadian cultures have their differences, the Cisco inclusive tradition remained!

Whilst in Prague, not merely did Personally i think welcomed in any office, but so a lot of my Czech co-workers wished to invite myself to lunch to like a traditional Czech meal, or even to go away to their preferred local “pivovarfor a beverage after work or also into their houses to meet up their lovely households. The friendships I manufactured in Prague are a thing that I’ll always cherish. Those connections go significantly beyond just the 9-5 workday.

Even now that I’m back in my house country in Canada, sufficient reason for travel limited, I still feel just like I am section of a worldwide community. Through remote control work, and Cisco technology, I still have the connection to both my Canadian and Czech teams – despite having an ocean and a large number of kilometers between us.

My love of traveling provides always shown me that whenever we are subjected to different cultures, we may are more flexible inside our thinking, build more powerful connections, and replace concern with the unknown with rely upon humanity.

Cisco fosters this conscious lifestyle and I’m very proud to state that I work with an organization that makes this worth front and center by giving opportunities to function cross-functionally with different teams, places and cultures around the world.
