Beyond the world-report benchmarks: How Cisco UCS efficiency drives business results

I’ve written extensively concerning the performance and economic benefits of Cisco UCS servers. Just this past year they claimed seven new world-record benchmarks, showcasing continuous innovation in online analytic digesting, Java business middleware, and natural CPU performance.

But benchmark checks are conducted in a laboratory under controlled circumstances carefully. What matters is how properly the servers perform in real life and how capable they’re in helping multifaceted – and continually transforming – business needs.

Geographic Solutions offers a timely illustration. Serving state and nearby workforce agencies, the 345-person business has distributed an impressive $38 billion in pandemic-related unemployment settlement this year. Also it has been done by them on the proverbial shoulders of Cisco UCS servers.

While the level of claims prepared and amount of cash disseminated are nothing lacking historic, the technological underpinnings that produced them possible are impressive equally.

To operate new state unemployment techniques and cope with unprecedented degrees of traffic and requirement (see Physique 1), Geographic Options deployed 19 Cisco UCS servers with 2nd Era Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane persistent memory (PMem). Seven of the servers are 112 core, ultra-high-performance nodes. Others focus on the company’s VMware and disaster recuperation environments.

To understand how Geographic Solutions accelerated server deployments simply by 3x and achieved sub-second response times because of its SQL Server data source queries, read the entire case study.
